Why Plasticity

Plasticity is a powerful complement to other CAD tools. History-based parametric modeling is valuable but costly: to keep feature trees robust, many advanced solid and surfacing tools are disabled. Plasticity is free of these constraints and exposes the full power of Parasolid and xNURBS. With Plasticity, you can rapidly create precise surfaces and complex solids that would otherwise be blocked by laborious history workflows.

What the people think

Makers, video game artists, industrial designers, and mechanical engineers use Plasticity to achieve their most ambitious ideas.

When I started studying plasticity, I liked its simplicity, minimalism and intuitiveness so much that at the moment modeling something has become not just another challenge for me, but like a game, and I like it so much

I really like how plasticity is just very easy to get into. Very intuitive and easy to learn (especially if you have experience in blender), should have tried it sooner.

Started learning Plasticity, a "CAD for artists" modeling software and it is fantastic.

I used to underestimate Plasticity. It seemed like just another 3D editor — nice, but unnecessary. Now, it’s my best friend and go-to tool. Fast, intuitive, with features that work exactly the way I need. It doesn’t get in the way — it helps. What used to feel like routine now feels like a pleasure

What are the system requirements for Plasticity?

Plasticity benefits from modern, high-performance hardware. While you can use the free trial to check how well it runs on your system, we recommend the following for a smooth experience:

  • CPU: Modern multi-core processor, such as Intel Core i7 or AMD Ryzen 7
  • GPU: Dedicated graphics card (e.g. NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1660, RTX series)
  • RAM: Minimum 16 GB (32 GB recommended for large projects)

Plasticity can run on both laptops and desktops, but a powerful CPU, GPU, and sufficient RAM will greatly improve performance — especially when working with complex 3D models.

How does a node-locked, individual-use license work?

A node-locked license is tied to specific computers:

  • Indie license: You can use Plasticity on up to two of your computers at the same time.
  • Studio license: You can use Plasticity on up to four of your computers at the same time.

We provide:

  • 10 activations per license (per one-year period). You can request additional activations at any time.

Licenses are strictly for individual use and cannot be shared between multiple people. Even if installed on multiple machines, each license may only be used by a single individual. Concurrent use by different people is not permitted.

What is a perpetual license?

Both our Indie and Studio licenses are perpetual, meaning you pay only once for a 12-month maintenance window, but you own and can use the software forever. With your purchase, you receive 12 months of free upgrades, encompassing releases within that period. The versions of the software released and installed within the 12-month period will not become invalid or inaccessible after one year.

We aim to have two or three major releases each year.

What operating systems does Plasticity run on?

Plasticity is available for:

  • Windows (10+)
  • macOS (12+)
  • Linux (Ubuntu 22+)

Please note that not all features are available on every platform.

Your license can be used across multiple devices and operating systems — you’re free to install Plasticity on Windows, macOS, and Linux simultaneously.

Do you offer academic licenses or other kinds of discounts?

Yes! We offer a free academic license for non-commercial use (Indie version only) as well as several educational and special discounts. Please email us at contact@plasticity.xyz to apply.
